Personal Background
Originally from Nottingham, I am one of six girls. My Dad was in his own car business and my Mum was a cook. Having a natural instinct for looking after people it was clear from the age of 7 that I was going to be a nurse or look after animals, even though initially after leaving school I trained as a secretary. My first job was in a factory working as a personal assistant - I lasted eight days!
I entered nurse training in 1979 gaining experience mainly in trauma units such as burns/plastics, intensive care and neurosciences where I was to nurse my future husband Mark. But it was to be several years later, after leaving hospital work and Nottingham, that I met Mark again at Elim and started dating him. I now work in Occupational Health and have been working in this area since 1986. I have worked for several large companies such as British Gas, Siemens, Nottingham City Council and now I am home based working for Fujitsui.
I have been married for 14 years and in 2008 Mark and I adopted two boys.
Testimony
My first experience of church was as a Catholic. I remember that I always had to be very quiet in the church services. A lot of the services I had to go to were in Latin or Polish. My younger sister introduced me to Christ by taking me to a Nicky Cruz seminar and then later a Billy Graham event in Sheffield. I remember thinking that both these men had obviously been told about me (probably my sister I thought) because they were spot on about my life without Christ. I invited Jesus into my life very quietly in my own bedroom a short while after these events and for the first time really prayed instead of praying the printed prayers I was used to. That was over 20 years ago and I have never regretted a single moment about that decision. It has not always been a smooth ride. There have been many major situations in my life that I know if I didn't have Christ I would not be here today but each time after a little while, I have grown stronger and added the learning from each circumstance to my present walk.
Giftings
I still really love caring for people and God has given me a passion for people that sometimes even overwhelms me and my heart's desire is to see all walk in the freedom and the authority that Christ graciously bestows on us. I love worshipping the Lord and can often be seen as part the worship team at the Sunday services. When I sing songs to the Lord I hope the passion that I have about Him resonates in individual's lives.
I have a natural gifting for teaching and training whether that is on an individual basis or to groups of people and enjoy imparting knowledge and truth into peoples' lives.
